Celebrating its longstanding partnership with UNICEF in supporting children around the world in gaining access to quality education, Montblanc unveiled its limited edition UNICEF collection at an event in Johannesburg. Designed to highlight the precious gift of writing, the Montblanc for UNICEF collection includes writing instruments, timepieces, leather goods and accessories that will help improve the learning of over 5 million children through quality learning materials and better teaching.
Internationally recognised and highly respected South African singer, songwriter, entrepreneur, Global Health Advocate and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Yvonne Chaka Chaka and South Africa’s youngest published author and UNICEF Tiny Stories writer, Michelle Nkamankeng, were among the 150 VIP guests joining Eric Vergnes, President of Montblanc Middle East, India and Africa, at an elegant reception to mark the occasion.
Spreading the key message “writing opens up the world. Pass on this special gift”, Eric Vergnes shared one of his most memorable moments of writing, before encouraging guests and the wider community in Johannesburg to also share their memories. These will contribute to the international campaign launched by Montblanc brand ambassador Hugh Jackman in print, online and social media, using hashtags #PassItOn, #Montblanc, #UNICEF, and #foreverychild. On the campaign site www.montblanc.com/unicef, the memories of participants are being collected and transformed into a journey across the world.
To highlight the root of writing and the diversity of world languages, six handwritten characters form part of the unique design of the new Montblanc for UNICEF collection. Each character is the first letter from six different alphabets and includes Hindi, Arabic, Roman, Chinese Japanese and Korean. Each item sold between 1 April 2017 and 31 March 2018 raises the amount that will be donated towards providing more children access to primary education of a better quality.
Speaking at the reception, Eric Vergnes said: “With a passion for writing ingrained in our heritage and the firm belief it is every child’s human right to be able to learn to read and write, Montblanc is pleased to launch this new collection with the support of everyone here tonight and reaffirm our commitment to this longstanding and important partnership with UNICEF.”
Montblanc for UNICEF Collection is available in Montblanc boutiques worldwide. To show your support for UNICEF, share you most emotional memory about writing with a photo of a handwritten memory on your social channels using #Passiton #Montblanc #UNICEF #foreverychild.
