Art.b Gallery, the Arts Association of Bellville, will exhibit works by their members on Wednesday, 11 March 2020. Participating artists will display only one of their works, with no size restrictions in place.
Says Anne Wells of Art.b Gallery: “This exhibition showcases and celebrates our members’ art. Our members include established artists, students, amateur artists as well as untrained artists. They get to exhibit on the same platform in one of the best exhibition spaces in Cape Town. It’s an exhibition with no fear of rejection. Every year, we’re amazed and delighted with the quality of the works that form part of this exhibition.”
According to Wells, the exhibition is also an opportunity for anyone to become a member of the Arts Association. “One of the biggest advantages of being a member is that you become part of the association of arts in South Africa and have access to a residency in Paris after two years. You also join the art community in our area and have the chance to voice your opinions and suggestions at our annual general meeting, which takes place at 6pm on the night. This is also when we select a new committee for the Arts Association of Bellville. All members are invited to participate in the process by nominating a candidate. Furthermore, you can volunteer to help with curating and have access to City of Cape Town’s sponsored workshops for emerging artists. Plus, you get discounts at Framed Feather and other art shops.”
Wells concludes: “Art influences society by changing opinions, instilling values and translating our experiences. Our association provides excellent networking opportunities, not only with other artists but with potential collectors. It can build your resume and earn you recognition. We love hearing that we’ve helped artists and their careers. It motivates us every day.”
Participating artists include Katherine Meeding, Brahm van Zyl, Juria Le Roux, Gavin Du Plessis, Mandisi Mncela, Tiaan van Deventer, Mary Mc Millan, Fanie Marais, Victor Mafukeng, Geo Allderman, Laurette de Jager, Fanie Scholtz, Anne Wells, Ros Malteno, Veronica Reid, Alan Raubenheimer and many others.
Exhibition Opens: 11 March 2020; 6:30 for 7pm
Venue: Art.b Gallery, Bellville Library Centre, Carel van Aswegen Rd, Bellville.
