Tabarka Studio has been crafting custom terracotta surfaces since 2000. Designed by creative visionary Meir Zenati, their handmade terracotta tiles are inspired by cultures near and far, with an artisan’s flare for craftsmanship and style. Tabarka’s approach is rooted in nostalgia, yet finds relevance in contemporary settings. Having established a reputation as a leading producer of custom hand-painted terracotta, the firm has blossomed into a lifestyle surfaces brand with bespoke offerings of stones, terracotta, antique elements, hand-painted tiles, wood and parquetry.
They believe Los Angeles is experiencing an important resurgence creatively via the energy and freedom felt in design. A balance of relaxed sophistication that is simpatico with their brand point of view.
New for Tabarka is their latest terrazzo collection that incorporates terrazzo and brass, inspired by the mid-century splendour of L.A.’s golden age of Modernism: a time of optimism, ingenuity, and inventiveness of the post-war period that created some of the most important and striking architecture and design of the 20th century, which still fascinates in 2018.
Inspired by its use as flooring in mid-century architecture, the collection is more graphic and plays with the idea of creating geometric patterns with inlayed brass, suitable for all surfaces. These tiles allow one to design unique motifs from six patterns in the collection.
