Kitchens and all that they represent – cooking, socialising, spending time with family – make them a hugely important part of the home. As a result, Decorex Durban has created numerous features exploring all the integral elements of this crucial space. From the Big Picture – the overarching décor concept – to the little but important details, Decorex Durban covers all the angles.
The Kitchen Design Project presented by Blanco, tackles different styles and the technical considerations of creating a successful kitchen. With kitchens moving rapidly from a tucked-away space to a central hub, interior design is more crucial than ever. To inspire visitors, Skhuni Trends, MAD Design Studios, Ram Cupboards and Nkayishana Décor Trading will create a plethora of culinary spaces in different styles. Think Contemporary, Country Farmhouse, French or Coastal…
Offering even further inspiration, the Kitchen Trend feature by Cosentino will present the best and latest in surface design trends to guide you in laying the permanent foundations of your kitchen. Cosentino is a company that produces and distributes high value innovative surfaces for the interior design and architecture industries.
And now, onto the gadgets and gear that make a kitchen tick. This year, a new dedicated feature stand will showcase the best in kitchenware. The aim is to fire up your passion for cooking while helping you choose the best tools for your needs, through a showcase. Another new feature in the same vein – the Appliance Feature – is an exciting addition brought to you by Tafelberg. Expect a curated selection of the best in home technology and appliances.
As for how to use all this incredible kit, Decorex Durban will offer visitors a chance to see appliances and surfaces put to the test at the Bosch Gourmet Cooking Theatre. A longstanding highlight, this feature gives guests an experience that combines expert insight, design and performance in one. This year top chefs will share their secrets with budding foodies whilst showcasing some of Bosch’s top kitchen and home appliances.
But you won’t just have the opportunity to learn from the experts and be inspired – you can also indulge in delectable delights during moments of downtime. A range of dining and drinking options will satisfy your food needs at Decorex Durban. Guests can expect variety in all forms. From snacks to main meals, to healthy choices or gorgeous cupcakes, to kid and wallet-friendly options, the show caters for everyone.
Fuel up at the beginning of the day with coffee and other warm beverages prepared by the team of professional baristas from Illy and plot out your Decorex game plan over a cappuccino and croissant. Then, when it comes time to regroup and re-energise, you can choose between The Tribe restaurant – a stylish space combining local and European influences and serving up delicious platters – or The Art Café, which picks up on the show’s ‘Lifestyle by Design’ theme by combining meals crafted from locally sourced ingredients with bold abstract art. The Art Café is inspired by colour and texture – even the daily cupcake options explore seasonal palette trends and graphics!
“You eat with the eye first. We take this seriously, using the presentation of the meal and in specific cases, the packaging, to highlight the elements of colour and texture. Our attention to detail, from coordinating uniforms with area themes and exciting new offerings daily, ensures design elements are executed with excellence,” says Claire Harrison, Events Coordinator at The Mobile Event Company, who will be bringing this area to life.
Finally, wind down at the end of the day with a range of sociable drinking options. Enjoy some of SA’s best wines at the Wine & Bubbly Bar – an elegantly finished space serving a superior selection.
If beer is more your speed, you’ll have your pick of Durban’s best local craft beer at The Great Railroad Brew urban bar. Urban Beer House has The Great Railroad Brewing Company pouring their new-to-market local IPAs and Lagers. The beers are served alongside gourmet burgers that are made from scratch and homemade kettle-fried crisps.
The Neon Gin Jungle will entice visitors with premium distilled gins and cocktails made by expert mixologists. Enjoy your G&T with a modern art installation as the backdrop – think bold lighting and dramatic floral arrangements.
You’ll be able to drink it all in at Decorex Durban!
